GuruFocus

Paid

Value-investing research platform with a deep screener, guru 13F tracking and 30 years of financials; priced per market region.

GuruFocus has been building tools for value investors since 2004, from Plano, Texas. The All-In-One Screener combines fundamental and technical filters with free-form custom expressions and real backtesting — date ranges, rebalancing rules and stop levels, scored against the S&P 500 — reaching back to 2006 on the upper tiers. Every stock carries a GF Score from 0 to 100 and a GF Value estimate, next to two DCF calculators and a Graham Number, and the platform tracks the 13F portfolios of over 8,000 institutions plus insider and politician trades. Thirty years of financial history is standard. The catch is the pricing model: Premium ($549 per year) covers a single market region — Europe is another $499 per year, smaller regions $369 each. A free account exists but masks screener results beyond the top rows. There are mobile apps and a separately-priced data API; the interface is English only.

Best for

Value investors who research deeply, want guru tracking and long financial history, and mostly work one market region.

Strengths

  • Thirty years of financial history standard (forty marketed), with delisted stocks on the top tier
  • Screener combines fundamental, technical and custom-expression filters with real backtesting to 2006
  • Guru and insider tracking at scale: 13F portfolios of 8,000+ institutions, funds and politician trades
  • Documented valuation stack: GF Value, GF Score, two DCF variants and the Graham Number

Trade-offs

  • Every market region is a separate subscription ($369–549 per year each) — multi-market investors pay multiples
  • The free account is a research teaser: screener results are masked beyond the first rows
  • Rigid billing (non-refundable, cancellation via support ticket) and weak charting — a review quoted on their own pricing page recommends charting elsewhere

GuruFocus vs PortfolioGlance

GuruFocus is for finding and dissecting stocks; PortfolioGlance keeps the books on what you actually buy. PortfolioGlance deliberately has no screener, no stock scores and no valuation models — if you hunt undervalued stocks by fundamentals or follow what famous managers are buying, that is GuruFocus territory — we have no plans to contest it. The reverse also holds: GuruFocus “Portfolios” are closer to a watchlist than an investor ledger — no multi-currency cost basis, dividend income tracking, allocation health or goal projection. For a European investor the region pricing matters too: European coverage alone costs $499 per year at GuruFocus, while the portfolio that comes out of that research can be tracked in PortfolioGlance for free.
