Wealthfolio
Open-source, local-first portfolio tracker with time-weighted and money-weighted returns, rebalancing and an optional paid broker sync.
Wealthfolio is an open-source, local-first tracker that runs on your own device and keeps your data there by default. It computes both time-weighted and money-weighted returns, compares them against the S&P 500 or any ETF, shows allocation drift with a rebalance plan, and projects a savings or FIRE plan year by year. An AI assistant can read your real portfolio, but you bring your own API key or run a local model. Automatic broker sync exists as a paid subscription called Connect; everything else is free.

Best for
Investors who want a serious analytics engine without giving up ownership of their data, and who are comfortable installing software or running a container.
Strengths
- Both time-weighted and money-weighted returns, plus benchmark comparison against any ETF
- Open source under AGPL-3.0 and genuinely self-hostable with a Docker web-server mode
- Local-first by default — the AI assistant runs on your key or a local model
- Rebalancing with drift bands, goal milestones and a FIRE simulation
Trade-offs
- No dividend or income forecast
- No tax-report generation — tax is recorded per transaction only
- Automatic broker sync sits behind a paid subscription
- Self-hosting and desktop installation demand more setup than a hosted web app
Wealthfolio vs PortfolioGlance
This is the closest open-source rival we have, and it beats us on openness: it is AGPL-3.0, self-hostable, and offers broker sync we do not. We match it on time-weighted and money-weighted returns, benchmarking, rebalancing and goal projection, and we add a portfolio health score, an AI portfolio review and a dividend picture — with nothing to install and no container to maintain. Choose Wealthfolio if owning the stack matters more to you than owning none of it.
