Passiv

Freemium

Broker-connected rebalancing tool that keeps your portfolio on target with one-click trades, with holdings and performance tracking underneath.

Passiv is a Canadian portfolio-management tool that connects to your brokerage, via SnapTrade, to keep your investments aligned with a target allocation. You define a model portfolio, and Passiv monitors drift, tells you when cash or dividends are available to invest, and calculates the exact trades to rebalance — executing them with one click on the paid Elite tier, or leaving you to place them manually on the free tier. It also reports performance, contributions and dividend income across multiple accounts, though tracking is the supporting layer beneath its rebalancing engine. It is not a robo-advisor and never trades without your instruction.

Best for

DIY index and couch-potato investors — especially Questrade and other supported-broker users in Canada — who want automated drift alerts and one-click rebalancing without handing control to a robo-advisor.

Strengths

  • Best-in-class one-click rebalancing to target allocations, tied directly to your brokerage
  • Genuine permanent free tier with drift, cash and dividend notifications
  • Auto-syncs real holdings via SnapTrade across an expanding broker list
  • Multi-account household view with advanced multi-currency (USD/CAD) handling
  • Shareable model portfolios and goal-tracking what-if scenarios

Trade-offs

  • Rebalancing-first: the broader tracking and analytics are lighter than dedicated trackers
  • No native mobile app (web only) and no benchmark-vs-index comparison found
  • Requires linking a brokerage — no manual entry, no CSV import
  • Narrow asset scope (stocks/ETFs); no native crypto, health score, tax reports or AI
  • The best value is really the paid Elite ($99/year)

Passiv vs PortfolioGlance

Passiv does one thing better than almost anyone: connect to your broker and rebalance you back to target with a click — and it reports a proper time-weighted return (TWRR). But it is a rebalancing tool first, so the broader tracking is thin: no money-weighted return, no benchmark, health score, dividend forecast, tax report or AI, and no manual entry or CSV. PortfolioGlance is a full tracker: both time- and money-weighted returns, a portfolio health score, benchmark, goal projection and a named AI layer, working from manual entry or CSV as well as sync. Pick Passiv if one-click rebalancing at your Canadian broker is the job; pick PortfolioGlance if you want to understand and improve the whole portfolio, not just realign it.
