**Desktop app for investors who want returns calculated properly and data kept on their own computer. Free and open source.**

**Best for:** Careful investors who want return figures they can defend, kept on their own machine. If you want to add a trade from your phone, you can't: data entry happens only on the desktop.

Strengths:
- True time-weighted return and IRR, with the method documented in the manual
- Free and open source, with no paid plan for the desktop app
- Custom taxonomies that can split one ETF across regions or sectors

Trade-offs:
- Data entry only on the desktop, while the mobile app is read-only

**Best for:** People who want all their investments in one place and would rather type them in or import a CSV than share a bank login. If you want the portfolio to update itself from your broker, we're not the right app.

Strengths:
- Free to use, and new accounts get AI tokens to start
- No bank or broker login, so there are no credentials to share
- Property, deposits and private assets next to listed securities, in any currency

Trade-offs:
- No automatic bank or broker sync: holdings go in by hand or from a CSV
